Plastic jars like those for the wet wipes, they can be re-used for storage,instead fo throwing them away.For storing buttons, coins etc..
CDs and disks can be used also in crafts.Some ppl smash them into pieces and use them as mosaic pieces. or even color an old CD and place a clock in the middle of the whole.
In poorer places here in Egypt young kids use old plastic bags to make kites too with wooden straws.
