Easy Green Tips

The solution to saving resources is stop being wasteful! Yes, it might take a little more effort, but only of we each do just something small, we can make at least a little change in what is going on around. By the way - saving resources doesn't just save environment, it also saves the money!
Here we do not describe incredibly harsh and difficult ways of saving resources, it is rather simple and really easy things, that will seem really obvious after you’ve got used to them!

1. Electricity

Usage of electricity polluting the nature is news to a lot of people. After all, when you plug something into the wall, it seems clean enough -- you don't see or smell any pollution, like you do with your car. But the pollution is there -- it just happens at the power plant. Most electricity is generated by burning coal and other fossil fuels. Every time you turn on the lights, you create a little pollution.
The ways how you can simply save some electricity EVERY DAY:
·         Use ceiling fans instead of the air conditioner
·         Turn off lights you're not using – check if you have turned off lights when you leave home or just the room
·         Use a clothesline or a laundry rack instead of a dryer
·         Sleep your computer when you're not using it
·         Wash laundry in cold water instead of hot or warm – the truth is that clothes are not always that dirty to necessarily wash them in hot water
·         Replace 100-watt light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs (they might be slightly more expensive, but they will work longer and save money on electricity, especially if you change all bulbs you have at home)
·         If you have an old fridge, washing machine, TV  from 1990-ties and have a possibility – buy a new one, the one that saves energy
·         Plug out all devices from electricity if they are not used. For example, don’t leave phone charger plugged in when you are not using it! Plug out also your music devices, TV, lamps, etc. When you don’t need them or especially, when you are leaving the house!
·         Don’t leave fridge door open too long, also the ice in freezer should be melted time after time! Don’t put anything hot into fridge!

2. Water

Water conservation means using our water wisely and caring for it properly. Since each of us depends on water for life, it is our responsibility to learn more about water conservation and how we can help keep our water pure and safe for generations to come. Since we all enjoy the benefits of having pure, clean water, we must help conserve water so that we may continue to enjoy these benefits.

Our water supply is finite, which means that we do not have an endless supply. We only have the water that we have now. Ninety - seven percent of all the water on the earth is salt water which is not suitable for drinking. Only three percent of all the water is fresh water, and only one percent is available for drinking water. The other two percent is locked in ice caps and glaciers.

The ways how you can simply save some water EVERY DAY:
·         Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily, dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet.
·         Take shorter showers – having 2 minutes shorter shower every day might help to save up to 500L of water per month!
·         Use the minimum amount of water needed for a bath by closing the drain first and filling the tub only 1/3 full.
·         Don't let water run while shaving or washing your face. Brush your teeth first while waiting for water to get hot, then wash or shave after filling the basin
·         When washing dishes by hand, fill one sink or basin with soapy water. Quickly rinse under a slow-moving stream from the tap
·         Insert a brick or two into toilet tank. This way you will save amount of water each time you flush.
·         run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full
·         Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap
·         Share water conservation tips with friends and neighbors.
·         Turn off the water while you wash your hair

        3. Paper

It is extremely important to save paper, because it makes one of biggest amounts of waste everywhere! Also, paper is made from trees, which are cut down in order to supply paper to all world. If we proceed using paper and similar resources without thinking about future, we migth end up without some of most important things, like fresh air, because trees are the ones that make CO2 into O2!
The ways how you can simply save some paper EVERY DAY:
  • Don’t throw out paper that is used just from one side!!! Collect it and rather use its other side to make notes, drawings etc. (this is especially useful in your working place!)
  • Don’t print out all unnecessary documents! Print out only really important ones and save the rest of them on your PC!
  • Avoid printing out single line e-mails or unnecessary copies of documents
  • Recycle the paper you have and ask for recycled paper products

There are a number of ways to save anything, and they all start with you!!!
